Our Story

In August of 1999, Pastor Buddy Cremeans and his family moved to New York with the dream of starting a church. Buddy had a vision for a church where people felt welcomed and experienced a safe environment where they could ask questions about God. A church that, no matter your background, would meet you where you are. He envisioned a church that had a blazing passion for the unchurched. A church for people who didn’t like to go to church. Also sharing in the vision was an established church in Halfmoon, NY who provided prayer, people and resources.

In 2002 a handful of people grew to 100 people who shared the vision and began to pray for a place to meet. God provided 10,000 square feet of space in the Shops of Malta, and Northway Fellowship opened its doors on September 22, 2002. What was once a World's Gym was transformed into a church. In 2003 God miraculously opened the door for Northway to acquire 10 acres of land less than a mile from our temporary location. This would be the site of our permanent location and our future home!

Trusting God and acting in faith, Northway rented the largest venue in the Capital Region, the Pepsi Arena, for its Easter services in 2006. Over 4,000 people filled the arena from communities throughout the local area. Simultaneously, the Malta campus was renovated to accommodate our rapid growth and additional space was rented for our Children's Ministry. Still, the solution was a temporary one. In order to accomplish the vision of reaching the Capital Region and the Northeast with the good news of Jesus Christ, Northway would have to become one church in multiple locations.

Recently recognized as one of the top 100 fastest-growing churches in the United States, Northway Church celebrated the Grand Opening of Clifton Park campus in January 2007. Pressing on towards God's vision for His church, Northway has stepped out in faith and started a third campus in Colonie, NY with its Grand Opening on Easter 2008. This newest location, leveraging technology as Northway's first fully video-driven campus, has already seen unprecedented growth.

Today, Northway Church holds multiple services in multiple locations each weekend as we share God's message of hope throughout the Saratoga - Capital Region.

The same vision that started the church in 2002 unifies these services and locations into a church with one heartbeat: To lead people throughout the Northeast into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
